Today I placed 50 'save-the-date cards' in the mail box. We've signed our venue contract. Paid a deposit. We secured our date [May 27, 2007] and wrote a letter advising our guests of the schedule, accommodation options and begging them to part with their hard earned cash to come and watch us get married.
We're expecting just 60 guests; we appreciate that many won't be able to make it, but we'll share photos and talk endlessly about it on this blog I'm sure.
I've been researching vendors daily. Sometimes just 10 minutes here and there in my lunch break or in the evenings. Officiants, transportation options, music, flowers, catering, etc.
I'm pleased that we're getting organized so early on - some vendors are already booked! I even spoke to a wedding planner today (we HAVE to have a person who is responsible on the day for all the timings and logistics) about using her services for the 'day-of.' I've been speaking to her for 3 weeks and i've been super patient waiting for her proposal that she promised to have to me within 3 days. I cut her some slack because she told me her child was sick.
Today she called me to say that she'd just found out the date of my wedding is a day that she's already booked. [She went directly to the venue to ask, not to me!] When she phoned me this afternoon, she asked if it was at all possible if we could change our wedding date to Saturday, May 26 so that she could work with us! This is the sum total of my email response.
"No. Our save-the-date cards were mailed today."
No salutation. No goodbye. No thank you. What I should have said is 'ARE YOU F**KING KIDDING ME?'
I don't think she realizes how fast David and I are working to make this an enjoyable process. That means researching well in advance, chosing people we want to work with, and not being held to ransome by insane demands or insane prices!
Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
P.S. Photo is of Lauren taken today in her new night dress that arrived in the mail from Auntie Emma. Oh and her mummy's shoes.
