"Just" a housewife

I am thankful!

I went into the weekend in a grump old mood. I had not spent much time with David in the last two weeks, I hadn't worked-out much in the last two weeks and I was just out of sorts, maybe for the last two weeks!

Dinner cooked for me on Friday, staying in bed until almost 12 noon on Saturday, followed by a champagne lunch at the Rotunda and an afternoon of retail therapy certainly changed my mood. David and I also watched two great Oscar movies this weekend; 'Little Miss Sunshine' - a surprisingly good movie, but for me, not a laugh-out-loud one and the amazingly engrossing and superb 'The Departed.'

Tonight we just hosted an Oscar party. 8-10 friends came over, including Oliver Swain who is just 2.5 weeks old! Abby Perry was a delightful 2.5 year old, as ever. Luca and Dushka were the last to go and it was nice to catch up with them...

Dushka is one of the best writers I know and I've said it before but she writes amazing blogs that make me think. Best of all she reminded me today, reading her blog, that I should be immensely thankful that I have a nice home, a great fiance, a loving family, a super cute niece and the money to buy the occasional treats for me and my family. Now, I'm off to snuggle with David and go to sleep so that I'm ready for the gym tomorrow morning!

P.S...did I mention I won the Oscar award competition we had? I got 13 answers right, more than any one else ;-)

How do you comfort someone?

If you've read David's blog you'll know instantly what I'm talking about. When you're sad yourself, you're just consumed by your own thoughts and your own feelings. 

When someone else is going through a loss, how do you comfort them? I wish I could take away David's sorrow. Obviously I can't so I'm just bumbling along, leaving him alone if he wants it, giving him cuddles, occasionally taking his mind off his Opa.

For Tom & Eileen & Stephanie!

My friend Tom reminded me today I haven't been blogging much. To prove Poddy right again, David's away so it's time to blog. Also Eileen and Steph took me out on Saturday night for a pre-birth bachelorette night (their imminent labor not mine!) All reasons to blog.

Eileen and Steph are due in March. Both are a wonderfully healthy 8.5 months pregnant. They took me for a lovely dinner in San Mateo and we had fun, laughed a lot and talked girly stuff. I had been against a very raucous event of any kind, but they reminded me (even though none of us drank alcohol!) that even silly, traditional bachelorette stuff is fun! They got me an excellent gift!

See that's the thing I have been thinking about this weekend...you can't actually say what you want to on a blog. I can't "share my innermost thoughts." I don't want you to "know my intimate details." To quote one of my favorite songs ever.

It's not a diary. I can't tell you what I'm really thinking. So yes, I can update you on what I'm doing but not always what I'm feeling.
