Yesterday was my bachelorette night. My friend Amy organized a lovely day/evening. Jennifer came into town and we went for a massage, then back home to leisurely get ready. Amy was an amazing chauffeur and picked us up at 4 p.m.

We went to this cute manicure and pedicure place in South of Market, called Polished. Amy had brought champagne and a chocolate cake to celebrate my birthday too. 7 girls chatted and got pampered. And I even got presents. A very nice, but surprising addition to the normal English version of a Hen Night!

Then three girls had to leave, so that left four of us to stumble across the road to a wonderful restaurant, Bong Su.

The service was brilliant and we started on our second of four bottles of champagne! Stephanie, Emily and Christina joined us for dinner and we had a lovely round table. The waiter even selected dinner for us, because by this point he gathered we were all too busy chatting to stop and decide what to order!

At about 10:30 p.m. with dessert and a shot of hard liquor, I was about done. I had a great night, but the thought of clubbing all night or a nice comfy bed...I chose the latter! I know I'm a bit lame, but I still woke up with a stonking great champagne hangover!

I'm a Minx?

David calls me his minx. Because I'm mischievous, a bit naughty and on occasion I go against the 'rules.'

However, I've just looked up the dictionary.com definition and it's something completely different!

"a pert, impudent, or flirtatious girl." David?

Anyway, back to the original point. I displayed minx (or so I thought) like tendancies tonight...

I thought I was feeling better this morning, so went into work as normal, but I still didn't feel right. After an unbareably painful few hours at work, I listened to my body, booked a doctors apt and went home. Blood work and pain killers later, still no 'official' diagnosis, but home to bed!

David was updated regularly and I think he was more concerned that my doctor said she 'couldn't rule out an appendicitous.' If I needed surgury he knows as well as I do that he would not have swapped a plane ticket to Barcelona for a plane ticket home to play supportive fiance! I'd have to suffer alone...

Anyway, this evening I've been feeling better, a relaxing evening and I've just been a minx. I'm 32 years old tomorrow, but tonight I acted much younger. I couldn't wait. After a rough day and a night alone, I decided to cheer myself up and open my birthday cards early!

I've got a smile back on my face now...Happy Birthday Me!

Illness and early to bed!

It's 8 p.m. and I'm in bed. You take health for granted until you're ill. I've had a few headaches lately and today my whole body aches. Even my wrists. I know it sounds weird, but yes even my wrists. My back, my stomach, my ankles.

I didn't feel like eating much, but I thought I might feel better, then I came to bed. I'm watching American Idol and Dancing with the Stars!

Maybe a good nights sleep will sort me out.

Ok Poddy I'll blog!

Yes David is away so to satisfy Ian/Poddy's theory of me blogging while David's away I'll get right to it.

Today Poddy and I had a little conversation over email. We talked about the wedding and I said to him, just give me champagne, call me David's wife and I'll be happy. I just keep thinking about that when 'issues/challenges' come up.

It's not that difficult, but as you know I'm not a patient person, so waiting for the final 4 RSVPs was agony. Now I have them. We're set. All RSVPs are in. 65 attendees. All menu cards, place settings, and table numbers are printed and set. The table settings cards (8 per table) are neatly in a ziploc bag with one menu and one table number card. All organized per table.

Obviously there have been some interesting family conversations along the way, annoying questions (all from my side!) and silly comments.

I just keep thinking of the champagne and being David's wife!

Sliding Doors...fate

David's away in Seattle...so I'm blogging.

I got a favorite movie of mine out on Netflix and I watched it tonight. When I told David I'd rented it, he said, 'oh that's a dark movie.' But I don't think it is. If you haven't seen it, in a nutshell, it's about a women who runs to catch a train. One story line runs as it follows the women catching the train and then the parrallel story runs as she's missed it.

These two different stories run until the end of the movie. I won't go into what happens, but I enjoyed it because it makes you think about fate and 'what's meant to be.' Even at the end of the movie, you have hope that even if the stories go on different paths, they'll still end up at the same place.

I think about this movie and think about David and me. In our relationship we could have gone so many ways; diverged, converged...but over the years I'm really happy about what fate has had in store for me so far.

It is also about the fragile nature of fidelity and trust and I guess that's what David and I can continue to hold sacred in our relationship as we approach marriage. Excuse me now, while go off to revist my wedding vows ;-)
